WENATCHEE — The Chelan-Douglas Land Trust has secured the full $800,000 in private funding needed to complete its matching share of the purchase of the Lookout Natural Area, clearing the way for the City of Wenatchee to move toward closing on what would become its first city-owned regional park north of the Wenatchee River. The area preserves shrub-steppe habitat, mule deer winter range, and migration corridors, and is contiguous with the. In partnership with the City of Wenatchee, CDLT will plan public access that balances recreation, wildlife protection, and respect for neighboring properties. Plans include a future trailhead access, and the property will be open for free non-motorized recreation with thoughtfully designed multi-use trails for walking, running, and mountain biking.
